The temperature you feel routinely disagrees with the one the thermometer reads — humidity and wind pull them apart most at the extremes. A year of hourly New York weather maps exactly when and by how much, and a live lookup does the same for any city right now.
Retuning the piano to the dissonance minima
Modern pianos tune every semitone to the same 2^(1/12) ratio, but measured roughness between notes is smallest at simple ratios the piano just misses — a minor third wants 1.200, not 1.189. A retunable piano plays Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, and Ravel under equal-tempered, fixed-minimum, and per-chord-optimized tuning so you can hear the difference.
